Weirdo Sleepers??

So I have officially decided that my children may be weird sleepers. Peyton has been a weird sleeper ever since he could roll over. I promise, he does like five 360-degree turns a night (I counted)! At any given time of the night his head could be hanging off of his bed, sleeping with his bum in the air, or have his hands out in front of him hanging in the air. Bryan and I have laughed MANY times at our sleeping Peyton. Now that he has learned to talk he has begun to talk in his sleep. When he talks in his sleep he is often playing and asking where something is. Sometimes I wake up to an angry Peyton talking in his sleep. The best is when he is giggling in his sleep, it is so cute!
So recently Peyton has found my stash of Cabbage Patch dolls and likes to take them in the car. He likes to burp the dolls like I burp Kael. On a recent car ride Peyton fell asleep burping the doll. It was so cute!

I think I might have another weird sleeper on my hands! So cute!

Easter 2010

Family pictures are very interesting with a two year old! The only way that we could convince Peyton to sit in the picture was to let him hold the video camera. For some odd reason he thinks that the video camera is called a "radio game". Not sure where this one came from but whatever!

Easter baskets! He was giving Kael his "prize". Peyton likes to share prizes with Kael.

Peyton was so excited to see what "Peter Cottontail" left for him. We taught him the Peter Cottontail song so he thought that that is what the Easter Bunny's name was. It is so cute to hear him say "Cottontail"! We saw the Easter Bunny at Sam's Club and you could sit on his lap for four dollars (it was a Primary Children's fundraiser). Grandma took him to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap. I thought he was a little creepy looking but after Peyton told me "Easter Bunny cute!" It was pretty funny!

Bryan and his boys.

Me with the boys.

Cute Easter outfit. Notice the bunny on the shirt! My cousin Emily bought this a couple of years ago. Peyton was able to wear it as well!

Cute bunny feet! He spit up on the blaket (that is my life..ha ha)

And the cute bunny tail!

We tried dying easter eggs....this did not turn out so well. Peyton got more dye on his hands than on the eggs and was a little miffed that the "messy" wouldn't come off. Peyton has always wanted to hold an egg. He was so excited that now he could finally hold an egg....and all he wanted to do is smash them! I guess it is a boy thing.....what else could I expect!

Kael knew what a disaster dying eggs was going to be!

The finished product. Appearantly we are a little too young to dye eggs...hence the cracked egg. We did a "K" for Kael and a "P" for Peyton. I then tried to create zebra stripes on the other two...didn't work out so well.
Pictures are always interesting with a two year old.

None the less we tried to do all of the Easter traditions even an Easter egg hunt....still too young for that one too! I ended up doing the hunting....not so fun when you're an adult....just saying! We will try again next year!

The last 8 weeks

I know that it has been a long time since I have updated the blog but it has been a little bit of an adjustment! Peyton has been a pretty good little sport about his new brother coming into his life. We went through a bit of a rough patch in the beginning where Peyton was testing the boundaries. Kael has only got kicked in the head twice and hit only a few times. Which is a little better than I had originally thought.
At about two weeks old Kael decided to start with the acid reflux. Let me just get this out on the table right now....I HATE ACID REFLUX! Not only does it plague my life, but my children's lives as well. I was really hoping and praying that I would not have to go through this again. I would literally have to change my clothes three times a day with Peyton. He also went through several outfits a day. Baby puke was EVERYWHERE! It was exhausting. I DID NOT want to revisit this! Needless to say, Kael has developed this horrible and annoying disease! Although it is a little different with Kael. He doesn't throw up right after he eats like Peyton did....so I am blessed in that way. However, he does throw up pure acid. It is so sad...you can hear it come up and he just screams and cries. I finally gave him Mylanta and that seemed to do the trick. I couldn't stand hearing him cry anymore so I took him to the doctor. She put him on Zantac. I was pretty confident that this would make things better. It did for a couple of days but then the stomach pains came. He would scream and cry all the time. If Kael was awake he was sad. It broke my heart. We thought maybe he was suffering from Colic and needed to change his formula. Bryan felt really bad when we would feed him because we knew it was only a matter of time until it would hurt him. Bryan felt like he was feeding his baby staples. We changed his formula to Alimentum, which is like 30 dollars a can (whatever we need to do to get this kid happy). This was an immediate fix! The proteins in the formula are already partially broken down for easier digestion. I could tell that he felt so much better. A couple of days later...he started crying again. I called the pediatrician and she put him on Prevacid to take on top of the Zantac. This did not help. Finally I took him into the doctor after he puked up stomach bile (I guess this is a bad thing for newborns to do and they need immediate attention...I did not know that). They X-rayed his belly to see what was going on and they found that his bowels were completely full. This was very puzzling to me because he had been pooping four to five times a day (sorry if that is TMI). The poor child had no where for his food to go! I had no idea he was that backed up...I am SO GLAD that I took him to the doctor or it could have made the situation so much worse! After a few suppositories and a daily dose of pruin juice (disgusting....it looks like tar!) we are SLOWLY getting back to normal. He definitely has some digestive issues that we are still working out and a few doctors appointments in the future...but I am hoping the WORST is over with! It has been an exhausting 8 weeks but things are looking up! There is nothing like having healthy children....or working toward that direction!

Brothers

It has been a crazy three weeks! Right after we brought Kael home from the hospital Peyton got sick. I began thinking to myself "can't I just adjust to being a mother of two before I have to worry about one child getting the other child sick?" Sure enough, when I took Peyton to the doctor, she told us that his cold could very well turn into RSV or Pneumonia. She then told us that we had to keep the two boys apart because if Kael were to catch Peyton's cold he would be back in the hospital. My first thought..."Are you kidding me?" Peyton is in love with Kael and wants to hold him and touch his head and hands.....I knew that this was going to be a nightmare. Luckily Bryan was still home from work and was able to stay with Peyton downstairs while I kept Kael upstairs. We did the best we could to keep them apart and by pure miracle from Heavenly Father, Kael never got sick! It was hard for Peyton though, he didn't understand why he couldn't come by his new brother. He was also wondering what the heck happened to his mom (which made me cry a little bit.....pregnancy hormones...sigh!). But now we are back to normal and adjusting the best we can.
I have decided though, I will be home bound until Kael can walk! It is so hard to get two kids ready to go anywhere! It takes hours! I think that they are working against me as well (they must have made a pact in heaven)! When one starts throwing a fit the other one wants to join in! I now have two screaming children and sometimes I want to pull my hair out! But I know it will get easier and easier! We all just need to adjust!
Kael is a really good baby though. He is so much more mellow than Peyton was. Although, he has started in with the acid reflux and has started to puke all the time (not as bad as Peyton though...we would burp him with a beach towel!). But luckily this time we know what to do! We love our boys and couldn't be happier to have them both! We know that it will just get more and more fun as the days, weeks, months, and years pass us by! We know they will be great friends!

P.S. There are so many times when I look at Kael and think that he looks just like Peyton. There are also other times when I think they look so different! I wanted to post a picture of Peyton as a newborn and Kael as a newborn to see if they really do look alike!

Our new arrival.....

So last Saturday I was doing everything I could to go into labor. I vacuumed the entire house, cleaned the bathroom, and walked around Sam's Club. None of these activities caused contractions...just pain. So I went to bed thinking that I may be pregnant FOREVER! Early Sunday morning I woke up with stupid back contractions that I had been suffering with for weeks. It was 5:30 in the morning and Bryan was getting ready to go to work. He saw that I was awake and having contractions. He looked at me and said "I am so tired of this. We are going to the hospital right now and we are not leaving without a baby!" I replied, "You are tired of this? I have been having back contractions for 12 weeks!" I was a little apprehensive about going to the hospital with the fear of being sent home (it is totally embarrassing!) and with the fear that my doctor was still stuck in Argentina! But none the less, I was very tired of having these contractions and being in pain. I told Bryan that we would have to make up a story so they would let me have this baby! I was going to tell them that I was up all night with contractions and in a lot of pain (even though I had slept pretty good :) ) I decided that I wanted to take a shower before going to the hospital, just in case they decided to let me stay. While I was in the shower my back contractions got worse. They were starting to hurt pretty bad. This made me feel a little better knowing that I wasn't going to walk into the hospital not contracting at all. As I got dressed I knew that all I could handle was to blow dry my wet hair and get in the car and go (I wanted some pain medication...namely an epidural!). As we got in the car to go I told Bryan that he was going to have to drive fast because the contractions were starting to hurt. As we were driving along highway 89 to McKay Dee Hospital, the contractions were horrible....I was practically climbing up my seat they hurt so bad. I also noticed that they were about two minutes apart. Bryan was driving as fast as he could. When we got to the hospital, I was dying! I was rushed by wheelchair to labor and delivery where they promptly hooked me up to the monitors. The nurse tried to check me, but once again the baby's head was so low that she couldn't accurately check me. She thought I might be a five, but I could have been more, she wasn't sure. She told me that Dr. Naisbitt was actually in the hospital delivering another baby and she was going to have him come and check me. This was music to my ears...my doctor was back! She quickly came back with an IV bag (which meant that I was staying!) and hooked me all up. Meanwhile I was dying with contractions! My nurse knew that I wanted an epidural and I wanted it FAST! As they wheeled me into my room the anesthesiologist was passing by, the nurse told him that I needed an epidural....bad! The next thing I knew he was in my room giving me my epidural (it was such great service! :) Immediately I felt better. He told me that it would take about ten minutes for the epidural to kick in. The next thing I knew my doctor was in the room, I was so glad to see his face. He told me that he wasn't sure if I was Strep B positive or negative (I hadn't seen him since he performed the test) so he would have to go home and get his computer to check my prenatal information. In the meantime they were going to start me on antibiotics. He decided to check me before he left. As he was getting ready to check me, he saw that the baby's heart rate was dropping. The next thing I know he is breaking apart the bed. He told me I was a ten and the baby was coming! I remember thinking "No! The anesthesiologist said it would take ten minutes for the epidural to work.....it hasn't been ten minutes!" I quickly grabbed the epidural button and began clicking! I was in shock! Was this really happening to me...right now? It was all happening soooo fast! My water had not broken yet...but that didn't stop this baby from wanting to come! After about five pushes...Kael Bryan Thompson was born. As they layed him on top of me...I couldn't believe that I was holding our baby! He was 6 pounds 4 ounces and 19 inches long. He was so mellow, hardly crying at all. We had arrived at the hospital shortly after 7 AM and our baby was born at 7:52. When we called our parents, they were as shocked as we were....we could not believe that he was here already, and that fast! I was so happy that he was finally here and healthy! He is a wonderful baby who doesn't cry much and sleeps really well (during the day...ha ha!) We are so happy that he is here!

Argentina..........are you kidding me?

So it turns out that my doctor is stuck in Argentina! What the heck? First of all...who goes on vacation to Argentina? (No offense to anyone, just my thought).....and second of all, THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME! I have not seen my doctor in over 3 weeks! He has been so booked because he was going on a vacation that I had to see his "assistant" doctor.....who after today I have officially deemed a DOOF! They called me this week and told me that I would have to reschedule my appointment (which was supposed to be Friday) with my doctor to his "assistant" doctor (whom I saw today)! Lets just say he didn't want to really see me because I wasn't his "patient" so he told me absolutely nothing, didn't check me, and said that he couldn't even see my baby's head on an ultrasound because his head is so LOW! I asked if this was a concern and why if it is so low haven't I gone into labor and he told me that "it is what it is." What does that even mean? Needless to say, I was very annoyed...and to top it all off I tried to get an appointment with my doctor for next week and they told me he was booked until FRIDAY. I guess being 39 weeks (almost 40 weeks by next Friday) doesn't get you anywhere! I am just FRUSTRATED! I feel like I am getting the RUN-AROUND. I have had such a great experience with my doctor and his clinic and am just disappointed. I know it is not my doctors fault that there is weather in Argentina and he cannot get out, but this doesn't make a girl who can't sleep because of acid reflux, can't walk because of scoliosis, and is sick morning and night feel very good! Sorry to whine and complain but I had to complain! So if you are reading this I really appreciate you allowing me to vent! Thank you....that's ALL! :)

Big Brother.....almost!

We are almost ready for this baby to come! I will not lie, me more than the rest of the family! Actually, it probably depends on how much I have complained to Bryan that day! He is also very ready. The crib is set up, his clothes are washed, and my bag is packed...just in case! We have also chosen a name, Kael Bryan.
We are expecting to have the new baby right around his delivery date (my water is going to have a hard time breaking because of the position of the baby) on March 15th. So I will most likely be started, which is fine with me. My doctor predicted that if he started me I would possibly have a 3-4 hour labor. Peyton's birth was only 6 hours long, so he predicted that on Pitocin I would go fast.
Now as for Peyton being ready, the jury is still out. When we ask him who is little brother is, he says "Kael". It is so cute. Sometimes we ask Peyton where Kael is....and he will respond sometimes with "mommy's tummy", "in the barn", "on the bus", or "at work". It is pretty funny because you don't know what you are going to get. The other day he lifted up my shirt to find my tummy. He put his hand on my tummy and said "Kael, come out!" I promptly informed him that mommy wanted that more than he knew! Later on that week he saw my tummy and said "nasty Mommy". I looked at him and said "you think mommy's tummy is nasty?" He then looked at me and said "Tyler, said it." I laughed and looked at Tyler (my cousin) and he said " I didn't I promise!" Peyton definitely threw him under the bus! It was pretty funny!
I am very nervous about this baby coming though. I am actually more nervous about having this baby than I was to have Peyton. I am probably experiencing a lot of the same fears that other mothers have about having their second child. How will I ever love another child as much as I love him? How will I spread my attention between a newborn and a two year old? How will I be able to function on no sleep while trying to keep up with a very busy two year old? How will I deal with the jealousy issues of a two year old? The list goes on and on! I am sure that most of my concerns will be solved naturally. Much like how you feel about your first baby and becoming a mom!
Well, now all we have to do is play the waiting game....we will let you know when our little guy arrives!
